Project Development Internship

Our Company
Anbaric develops utility-scale transmission projects to link regional electricity markets and bring renewables to load centers. We also develop large-scale transmission systems to accelerate the growth of the offshore wind industry. Anbaric helped launch the independent transmission sector in the US. Our late founder helped spearhead the development of two 660 MW HVDC lines, Neptune and Hudson, operational in 2007 and 2013. Anbaric also completed the early-stage development of 1200 MW of transmission assets at Brayton Point, MA, which were sold to offshore wind developer Mayflower Wind in 2021. Today, Anbaric is a market leader in the transmission industry with a pipeline of $6 billion of projects in various stages of development in New Jersey, New York, and New England as well as energy storage projects. Anbaric is backed by the Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan, one of Canada’s largest single-profession pension plans with over $200 billion of assets under management.

Summer Internship Position
Anbaric is seeking an intern to assist with project development and other relevant activities. The intern may have a background in engineering, political science, business or community engagement. The intern will support Anbaric’s project development and research needs across the company’s markets with a particular focus on electric transmission projects to integrate offshore wind with the New England grid. Responsibilities will include project due diligence related to engineering, routing, permitting, community engagement, and cost estimation. Additional responsibilities will include web-based research on transmission, offshore wind, market and regulatory structures, and host community considerations.

The position will respond to Peter Shattuck, New England President for Anbaric, who will determine responsibilities based on the intern’s capabilities and company needs. The intern may work remotely, with occasional (no more than once-a-week) trips to Anbaric’s office in Wakefield, Massachusetts or project sites in southern New England. The internship is intended to run over the summer. This is a paid internship opportunity.

The CFO Position
The Chief Financial Officer will be a strategic partner to the CEO, working closely with other members of the senior management team, the Board of Directors, our investor, and our strategic partners to identify markets, shape our strategy, and define our growth targets. She/he will be responsible for all aspects of the finance function, including executing the Company’s corporate and project-related financing activities, and with the CEO will drive profitability, cash flow generation, and equity value creation.
The CFO plans, implements, and manages all finance-related activities and collaborates on the financial aspects of development. This includes leading economic evaluation for project bidding, modelling, and investment analysis and the financial components of project development, from conception through financial close. Her/his day-to-day responsibilities include accounting, financial reporting, tax, treasury, cash management, capital investment and allocation, planning and analysis, project financing and other finance-related support for projects and transactions. She/he manages the Company’s finance team and external advisors. She/he will have the opportunity to shape and grow a company helping the transition to a low-carbon economy while building the financial team that will be instrumental in meeting the company’s objectives.

Qualifications
Anbaric seeks a strategic, innovative, and disciplined executive with:

  • Financial leadership skills in a PE-backed or public company;
  • Comfort in negotiating project development, financings, M&A transactions;
  • Experience in power generation, transmission, or infrastructure projects;
  • Development know-how including bid preparation, capital allocation and risk mitigation; and
  • A team focused, results oriented, resilient, curious, ethically uncompromising character.

Senior VP, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and Transmission Policy

The Senior VP, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and Transmission Policy Position
Reporting to the Company’s Chief Executive Officer, the Senior VP, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and Transmission is a key executive team member, working closely with the Company’s senior management team, the Board of Directors, our investor, and our strategic partners and advising on a wide range of regulatory and policy matters to enable the Company’s projects to succeed, to identify new projects and markets, and to shape the regulations governing transmission, allowing the Company to grow while benefiting the ratepaying public. Key areas of expertise include FERC matters, RTO and ISO tariffs, and state regulatory proceedings. S/he will play an active role in transmission regulation, crafting regulatory and policy initiatives that can take root among stakeholders across the industry, which can then be formalized into federal or state regulations or RTO/ISO tariffs.

The Senior VP, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and, Transmission conceives, plans, implements, and manages all transmission regulatory-related activities at the Company and collaborates on the regulatory aspects of project development. This includes identifying regulatory opportunities for (or barriers to) project development and structuring the Company’s development work and corporate forms to maximize regulatory and Company benefits, from conception through financial close. Her/his day-to-day responsibilities include advising and acting on FERC, RTO/ISO and state regulatory matters, collaborating with the development team on project issues, and designing and implementing a long-term regulatory strategy to protect the Company’s interests. She/he manages the Company’s regulatory filings and oversees external legal and policy advisors.

The position can be partially or fully remote.

Qualifications

  • A law degree and state bar qualification;
  • Proven success in managing complex regulatory proceedings;
  • Deep familiarity with electric transmission regulations;

  • Experience in power generation, transmission, or infrastructure projects and development know-how; and
