Wakefield, Mass – Oct. 27, 2020 – Anbaric today announced that Kevin Knobloch, President of Anbaric’s subsidiary New York Ocean Grid LLC., will now assume the role of President of Federal Policy. In this new role, Knobloch will lead Anbaric’s engagement with the Federal government on federal policy, regulatory and project development opportunities in support of the company’s mission of delivering renewable energy in the most advanced offshore wind markets in the nation.
“Since joining Anbaric, Kevin has led the company efforts to develop offshore wind transmission in New York State and advance a planned approach to an open-access offshore wind transmission grid, including co-leading the development of a competitive proposal submitted to New York’s 2019 offshore wind procurement,” said Clarke Bruno, CEO, Anbaric. “With his wealth of experience and industry knowledge, Kevin possesses an unmatched understanding of energy, economic and environmental policy that make him the perfect leader of our Federal efforts.”
“Anbaric is excited to be part of the rapidly emerging U.S. offshore wind industry and I am equally enthusiastic to represent us in our Federal work,” Knobloch said. “Strong and clear Federal leadership is needed for this new economic sector to be fully realized. Key to our industry’s success are a thoughtful, far-sighted approach to designing the offshore wind transmission network – both offshore and onshore – and an open, competitive procurement process that reduces ratepayer costs and environmental impacts, invites broader private investment, and builds a strong domestic supply chain.”
Knobloch has an extensive record in designing, winning adoption and implementing Federal and state policies to advance clean energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Prior to joining Anbaric in 2017, he was a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for International Environment and Resource Policy (CIERP) at the Tuft University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, where he co-authored the report Clean Energy Policy and Expanding Markets: Insights from Corporate, Labor and Investor Leaders. Knobloch served as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Energy as an appointee of President Obama from June 2013 to January 2017, working with Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz. He was President of the Union of Concerned Scientists for ten years and earlier in his career, served as Legislative Director for U.S. Senator Timothy Wirth of Colorado and Legislative Assistant for U.S. Representative Ted Weiss of New York.
Knobloch will continue to represent Anbaric on the National Commission on Grid Resilience and the Board of Directors of the National Offshore Wind Research and Development Consortium and Northeast Clean Energy Council.
