Anbaric is committed to building New Jersey’s carbon-free future by solving today’s critical renewable energy challenges – delivering offshore wind to the onshore grid at the lowest price to the ratepayer, while protecting the fragile ocean environment, our fisheries and catalyzing the growth of the offshore wind industry. Governor Murphy has established a goal of 7,500 MW of offshore wind by 2035. In 2019, the state awarded a contract for 1,100 MW of offshore wind and is scheduled to conduct additional offshore wind solicitations in 2020 and 2022, each for an additional 1,200 MW. In January 2020, Governor Murphy signed an offshore wind solicitation bill into law which expands the definition of a “qualified offshore wind project” to include “offshore wind transmission facilities.” The sizable and predictable procurement schedule, as well as this new law for qualified offshore wind projects, has positioned New Jersey as a key national leader in the offshore wind industry and an ideal location for many of the jobs and private investment that accompany such consistent growth.

Anbaric has been working for years to competitively participate in New Jersey’s offshore wind advancements. Our Boardwalk Power Link project, a 1,200 MW injection of offshore wind into a 500 kV substation in central New Jersey, provides an ideal transmission option. As New Jersey continues to establish itself as a national leader in offshore wind, the state will accelerate the development process to build the offshore wind industry to scale via an open-access, planned transmission system.  Anbaric is leading the way on this concept, and in June 2018, filed a non-exclusive Right-of-Way/Right-of-Use Grant application with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) for our New Jersey OceanGrid.
