The “Wind and Hydro Response” project team today issued the following statement on the outcome of the Clean Energy RFP.
The results of the Clean Energy RFP were released this week and the ‘Wind and Hydro Response’ project was not retained. We continue to believe that the ‘Wind and Hydro Response’ offers an innovative, cost-effective clean energy solution that addresses New England’s energy challenges by integrating more renewables as a firm energy source, where wind’s intermittency is complemented by hydropower. New England needs more clean energy supplies and improved transmission infrastructure to unlock and deliver it. This RFP marked the beginning of New England’s competitive clean energy process, an approach we welcome because it will benefit energy customers across the region, help diversify our energy supply, and meet climate change goals. We look forward to continuing to work with stakeholders in the region to bring the Wind and Hydro Response to fruition.
